Stitchout Screen Saver

Download the free Stitchout Screen Saver, stchinst.exe. This is a self-extracting zip file that will install the screen saver. After you have run stchinst.exe, right click on the desktop. Then select "Properties" from the pop-up menu. Select the "Screen Saver" tab on the "Display Properties" dialog box. Check that "Stitchout" is highlighted. Until you select some of your own files to display the screen saver stitches out a couple of built-in files.

You can also download the zipped version of the screen saver.  If you have Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows XP, put the screen saver, stchout.scr, in your \windows directory.  If you have Win2000, put the screen saver in your \winnt directory.   Just unzip the file and run the stchinst.exe.

You can use the screen saver  to watch embroidery designs stitch out on your computer when you are not using it for something else. Just hit a key or move the mouse to get back to your work. Select designs to display, and then watch them stitch out in random sequence or in alphabetical order. Set the stitch out speed with the screen saver setup. You can view Thred (THR), Pfaff (PCS), Tajima (DST), and Brother (PES) files. You can choose to display the file name, or to hide it.

If you prefer to select the background colors for your designs, you can change the colors in Thred and save your file (THR format). The Stitchout Screen Saver will choose background colors for designs that are in DST, PCS or PES, but it will remember the colors you saved in Thred, so if you save your design in Thred after you use "Edit/Set/Background color", the screen saver will use the new colors.
